Welcome to the Arizona Wind Symphony

Arizona Wind Symphony (AWS) plays a wide variety of music, including marches, Broadway & film tunes, overtures, dances, contemporary symphonic wind music, and more. View our concert schedule for a night of entertainment!

AWS is a dynamic 75 member community concert ensemble, consisting of music professionals, non-professionals and students. The occupations of our members range from music teachers and band directors to doctors, therapists, managers, engineers, administrative and secretarial professions, parents, and retirees.

Meet the Conductor

Conductor, Mr. William J. (“Bill”) Richardson, is a dedicated Arizona music educator with an unmatched record of over 30 years of conducting and teaching service in Arizona. Having won numerous prestigious state awards for his teaching, directing and leadership including the AMEA Music Educator of the Year distinction, he is currently In-Service Conference Chairman for the AMEA. Educated at the University of Arizona (Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education), Mr. Richardson is the founding director of the Tempe Youth Band and the Arizona Ambassadors of Music, an organization of statewide high school musicians which tours Europe every other year. He also plays trombone with the Tempe Symphony Orchestra.
